The Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offences Commission, ICPC is seeking the partnership of the media in the fight against corruption.
The Resident Anti Corruption Commissioner for Anambra State ICPC office, Mr Godwin Oche disclosed at the May congress of the Anambra Council of Nigeria Union of Journalists NUJ, in Awka.
Mr. Oche represented by a staff of the Commission, Mr. Inalegwu Shaibu, noted that corruption has been a problem hindering development in Nigerian, and maintained that it cannot be fought without the fourth estate of the realm, asking the media to join the battle to end the menace.
Addressing the union during the congress, The State Chairman of the Council, Dr. Odogwu Emeka Odogwu represented by the Vice Chairman, Comrade Ngozi Obileri commended the members for their steadfastness and commitment to the growth of the union, adding that the May congress availed them the opportunity to brainstorm on issues that will promote development of the council.
Dr. Odogwu reminded the council of the various programmes slated for the year, and asked members to participate actively to realize them.
On the state of the nation, the Nigerian Union of Journalists, through Comrade Tochukwu Ifejika, commended Governor Chukwuma Soludo for the pace of work on road construction in the state, especially in Awka Capital Territory.
