A federal high court sitting in Awka, presided over by Justice Fatun Riman has adjourned till May 18th 2023, the case of murder and related cases preferred against one Nnamdi Obi of Akamanator village, Ivite Nteje, Oyi council area.
The Presiding judge, Justice Riman, after hearing the prayers and pleas from both the plaintiffs and defendant’s counsel, ordered that the accused be remanded in the police custody, till May 18, when the court will rule on the issue of bail.
The Federal High Court One, venue of the trial witnessed heavy presence of members of the Akamanator Ivite Nteje community and other interested members of the public, as well as counsel on both sides.
The two-count charge was filed by the Inspector General of Police against same Nnamdi Obi of Akamanator in Ivite, Nteje, in Oyi council area,
In their separate reactions after the court session , the plaintiff’s counsel, Barrister Peter Amasiani said they made the first appearance on the issue at the court since the court is the last hope of the common man.
Barrister Amasiani said all they needed is peace in Akamanator which is what they have come to court to seek, hoping that on the scheduled date, the court will give ruling on the case.
On his part, the counsel to defendant Barrister Melitus Ezeh explained that they have appealed for bail for the accused, expressing the hope that he will be granted bail when next the court will seat.
Recall that sometime last year, Akamanator village Nteje was thrown into crisis and mourning on account of land tussle which ended in blood shed, tears and sorrows.
