Anambra State Government is to revoke plots allocated to developers who failed to develop them after the stipulated time frame.

 

The Managing Director of Anambra State Housing Development Corporation, Chief Chike Anyaonu disclosed this when Anambra State House of Assembly Committee on Housing and Urban Development visited the corporation at its corporate headquarters in Awka.

 

According to Chief Anyaonu, Anambra State Government allocated some plots at Ngozika Housing Estate and other estates in the State to developers to develop them within two years as stipulated in the contract agreement.

 

He lamented that after four years the plots were allotted to the developers, they are yet to develop them.

 

Chief Anyaonu told the Committee that they have given them notice to develop them, saying that on the expiration of the notice, the corporation will revoke the plots and reallocate them to people who have the capacity to develop them.

 

He informed the Committee that Anambra State has twenty-one housing estates but the corporation is currently working on Ngozika, Obinwanne, Green Valley and Liberation Housing Estates to bring them up to standard, while the rest will be given attention in no distant time.

 

On his part, the Chairman of Anambra State House of Assembly Committee on Housing and Urban Development, Chief Lawrence Ezeudu commended the Managing Director of Anambra State Housing Development Corporation, Chief Anyaonu for living up to expectations noting that Anambra State Government is using him to transform the corporation into a profitable entity.

 

The Committee also commended him for taking urgent steps to tackle the issue of plots that are in disputes and contractors who did not execute the projects given to them by past administrations.
