Anambra State House of Assembly Committee on Tender’s Board and Public Procurement has called on Ministries, Departments and Agencies MDAs to stick to Procurement Act in their capital expenditure to encourage accountability.

 

The Committee made the call during its meeting with the Accountant General of Anambra State, Dr. Chukwudi Okoli and his staff held at the Legislative Complex, Awka.

 

according to the Chairman of the Committee, Barrister Chuka Ezenwune, the essence of the meeting was to ascertain whether the office of the Accountant General follows due process in the disbursement of public funds within the 2023 fiscal year.

 

He explained that the Committee is saddled with the responsibility of looking into procurement activities of MDAs to ensure that they are working in compliance with Anambra State Procurement Act 2011 as amended, even as he commended office of the Accountant General for following due process in the disbursement of funds.

 

In his remarks, the Accountant General, Anambra State, Dr. Chukwudi Okoli commended Committee for its commitment towards ensuring that due process is followed by MDAs in their procurement activities, which he said will reposition Anambra state.

 

The Committee also called for release of more funds to the management of Anambra State, College of Health Technology, Obosi.

 

They made the call at their meeting with the management of the school to assess the level of implementation of their 2023 budget.

 

On his part, the Provost of the College, Dr. Chukwuemeka Ezeobi explained that the College has completed some projects with the funds appropriated to it through the Ministry of Health, adding that they will construct more classrooms to accommodate the increasing number of their students, install street lights at the College among others if more funds are released to them.
