The All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, is a political party that arose from the ideology of the people, which differentiates it from other parties in the country. APGA emanated from a feeling of marginalization and alienation. And so, there was this need for us to have a party we could call our own -hence the slogan, ‘Nke a Bụ Nke Anyị’.
Those who were in other political parties knew that APGA stands out. The difference in the ideology of APGA and those of other parties could be seen obviously in the leadership of the state. Before the APGA administration, the state only witnessed chaos, anarchy, and mayhem that led to destruction of public and private property in the state.
However, today, things have changed. Anambra is on the move, courtesy of competent and progressive leaderships APGA has been providing in Anambra starting with Mr. Peter Obi, Chief Willie Obiano and now Professor Chukwuma Soludo. The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) is a movement – a strong iroko planted by God and sustained by noble minds to wipe the tears of the people away and transform their lives for the better.
That is why it is still cruising in a formidable model propounded by notable gurus such as Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, Ezigbo Gburu Gburu, Ikemba Nnewi.
The achievements of APGA in Anambra State are a sure proof that the party has fared well and lived up to the dictum of the founding fathers of the party. No doubt, following the ideology, mantra, manifesto, vision and mission of APGA, the administrations of the party in Anambra state are a watershed in the history of governance in the State because of the track record of excellent performance of the three regimes produced by APGA.
Consequently, it is clear that the people of the state are very happy with the political party in the past seventeen years. The people demonstrated this in all the governorship and state house of assembly elections conducted since 2006 when APGA mounted the saddle of leadership in Anambra state.
The party has, no doubt, transformed the state through its simultaneous development mantra and the Community Choose Your Projects initiative. Through APGA’s Manifesto, democratic dividends have been abundantly spread to every nook and cranny of the state.
The people are happy as workers and pensioners are paid as and when due. The party resurrected pensioners from dead woods to living veterans. Durable roads and bridges are being constructed with dual carriage ways and solar street lights, just as security is beefed up, jobs are created, health facilities are provided and youths are empowered. Huge investments in our human capital development are ongoing with the “One Youth, Two Skills Initiative”.
In the long term, there is a drastic return to the old winning ways that transformed the fortunes of the old Eastern region under the Michael Okpara “Palm revolution”. And the Soludo administration has added the “Coconut economy” to this Agro driven economic rebirth. Thus, Anambra is not only driving towards a green, livable, smart and progressive city, but these high breed palm seedlings will begin to translate to major returns on Anambra’s IGR.
Anambra state government, in the true spirit of APGA, has given every worker and pensioner in the state one Christmas gift or the other since APGA came on board. The party has equally changed the face of Awka.
APGA led the state at a period when the nation went into recession two times, #EndSARS protests, COVID-19 and these did not affect Ndi Anambra as the government kept fulfilling its obligations to the people. APGA government returned schools to the missions, changed the face of education, health, agriculture, state media outfits, commerce, transportation and night life in the state.
Under APGA, Anambra can now boast of an Airport, ten thousand sitting capacity International Conference Centre in Awka as well as the Awka City Stadium.
All these high capital projects have not made the state not to pay salaries on the 25th of every month, unlike other states being controlled by other political parties. APGA, known for its peaceful disposition is, no doubt, building a lasting legacy for Ndi Anambra.
Ndi Anambra and indeed all the APGA faithful should be more committed than ever and join hands with Mr. Solution, Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo on the ride on to the Promised Land. They should beat their chests and say, indeed “Nkea Bu Nke anyi”.
SIR NOBERT OBI
