Anambra Governor’s wife, Mrs. Nonye Soludo and wives of governors from the southern part of the country, have held a roundtable discussion to look at ways of fostering stronger working relationship and other issues that concern the growth of the association.

The governors’ wives from the southern states met on the sidelines of the just-concluded Governors’ Wives Summit in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital.

Other topics discussed during the meeting include building better relationships between the present and outgoing members, as well how to support their husbands in tackling issues of mutual interests like maternal and child health, gender-based advocacy, trafficking in persons, drug use among women, children and girls, among others.

Wives of recently elected governors were also inducted into the Forum.

The Southern Governors Wives’ Forum is a regional association of all the governors’ spouses from the seventeen states in southern Nigeria.

They include governors’ wives from South East, South South and South West geopolitical zones.

Anambra Governor’s wife, Mrs. Soludo, also an active member of South East Governors Wives Forum, had joined first ladies from across the country at the Governors’ Wives Summit, organized by the Nigeria Governors Wives’ Forum, NiGWF.

The summit, which was themed “Partnership for Impact -First Ladies and Subnational Governance,” began on Wednesday May 17, 2023 and ended on Friday, May 19, 2023.
