The traditional ruler of Awka Community Obi Gibson Nwosu has charged the people of Awka especially the Youths to comport themselves properly during this year’s Egwu Imoka festival which begins with visit to Umuokpu Awka by masquerades and Awka indigenes.

 

Speaking in an interview with the ABS Obi Nwosu who described the Egwu Imoka festival as the highest cultural fiesta in Awka Community charged the people to always endeavor to use such in building bridges of brotherliness and peaceful coexistence.

 

Obi Nwosu who enjoined Awka Community to remain hospitable and accommodating, warned non indigenes against interfering in the cultural activities of the people of Awka.

 

According to Obi Nwosu, the law enforcement agencies have been properly briefed on how to deal with intruders during the ceremony.

 

He commended Governor Chukwuma Soludo for all his support to Awka traditional institution and various projects being executed by his government in the area with the aim of making Awka a livable and prosperous home Land.

 

Obi Nwosu who is a one-time Deputy chairman of Anambra State council of traditional rulers urged the leadership of Awka Development Union ADUN Nigeria, to step up efforts towards ensuring a peaceful Egwu Imoka festival, expressing the hope that soon the festival will become a tourist attraction.
