Managers of hospitality Industries in Anambra State have been advised to register and obtain their licenses from the Anambra State Ministry of Culture, Entertainment and Tourism to avoid court action.
The state Commissioner for Culture, Entertainment and Tourism Comrade Don Onyenji who disclosed this in an ABS Radio programme, “ISSUES” told them that from next week any hotel that fails to register with his ministry will be charged to mobile court set up by the government.
He cited the Anambra State Hospitality Law 2016 which empowers his ministry to register and issue out operational license to all hotels and other facilities in hospitality industry, noting that any hotel that operates without a license is operating illegally and will be sanctioned accordingly.
He listed the various kinds of hospitality industries who are to register with his ministry to include hotels, eateries, leisure parks, entertainment centers, bars, clubs, shopping malls among others.
Comrade Onyenji informed them of Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s infrastructural development in the state in the areas of road constructions across all the local Government Areas of the state in addition to providing security to the state.
A participant in the programme Mr. Achebe Nzube who is a hospitality consultant called for a measure to reposition hospitality industry in the state pointing out the need for government to regulate the industry to ensure safety of the customers.
He stated that hospitality industry is the major revenue for some countries like South Africa, Kenya and Dubai and wish that the state will tap from the potentials of the industry.
