All is now set for the third session of the fifth synod of Anglican Diocese of Amichi.
The host, St Philip’s Anglican Church, Eziama Amichi, Nnewi South Council Area, is now wearing a new look following renovation work, and other preparations.
The Bishop of the Diocese, Right Reverend Ephraim Ikeakor, accompanied by College of Clergy and the Synod Planning Committee, inspected some strategic areas including different sections of the church and the refectory among other.
The synod, which has its theme as “Clearing the Identity Crisis: Who is Actually a Christian”, is scheduled to hold between eight to eleventh of June 2023, targeting delegates from all the Archdeaconries and churches under Amichi Diocese.
Speaking in a press conference after the inspection, Bishop Ikeakor, who thanked God that Amichi Diocese is fifteen years synodically, noted that synod is a legislative arm of every diocese in the Anglican Communion as the church is episcopally lead and synodically governed.
He said that the synod theme will explain the identity crisis, who is actually a christian and the true christianity as there is need to address the matter so that church members and the people will come to terms, adding that identity crisis means that the originality and clarity of a thing is in question and contaminated that one can no longer distinguish which is which.
Bishop Ikeakor, who stated that synod is also a period when a bishop gives score card of his stewardship, listed some of the achievements of the Diocese within the year under review to include building and dedication of a three-storey hostel for the diocesan school of Nursing and Midwifery, installation of one hundred KVA Generator and solar power for the school, upgrading of students intake for the school and the planned visit by National Board for Technical Education in August this year for the award of Higher National Diploma Programme for the school.
