The President-General Building Materials International Market, Ogidi, Chief Jude Nwankwo, has lauded the current administration of Professor Chukwuma Soludo for effective governance and efficient use of the taxes and levies of the market in improving essential infrastructure.
Chief Nwankwo was speaking in an exclusive interview with the ABS , at his office in Building Materials International Market, Ogidi in Idemili North Local Government Area.
Chief Nwankwo commended the government’s commitment to providing security, firefighting services, improving the water systems, and enhancing road networks and drainage systems in the state.
He emphasized the vital role of market taxes in generating revenue for infrastructural development and maintenance as he noted that the current administration has played a significant role in bringing about positive changes within the market, ensuring the safety and convenience of traders and customers alike.
Chief Nwankwo praised the government’s efforts towards strengthening security measures noting that criminal activities have significantly decreased, providing a safer environment for both traders and buyers .
While acknowledging the achievements thus far, Chief Nwankwo, said that they are presently embarking on a large-scale drainage system project in the market to check flood menace that has been a challenge to the market community.
Recognizing the significance of efficient drainage for the market’s sustained growth and resilience, he emphasized the importance of this project and the positive impact it would have in the market.
He appealed to Governor Soludo to construct the major access road to various parts of the market which he said is less than one kilometer.
While stressing the importance of the road to the market, Chief Nwankwo explained that the condition of the road is so bad that it contributed to over flooding of the market whenever it rains.
The President-General expressed gratitude to the government for its continued support and commitment to improving the lives of traders in the state.
