Anambra State Commissioner for Education, Professor Ngozi Chumah-Udeh says skill acquisition is key to sustainable living.
She stated this at the 2023 Annual Skills Exhibition and Cultural Day held at Nigeria Science and Technical College, Nnewi.
Professor Chumah-Udeh, represented by an official from the Ministry, Mrs Ngozi Ezike, while officially declaring the event open, promised the continuous contributions and facilitation of technical education in Anambra State by Governor Chukwuma Soludo administration.
In her goodwill message, the Chairman Post Primary Schools Service Commission, Professor Nkechi Ikediugwu, observed that the exemplary ability of the students on different skills as seen in the event should be used in encouraging Anambra youths to pay much attention to their studies.
While noting the initiative of Governor Soludo in skill acquisition, Professor Ikediugwu advised all to develop their skills and talents which will make them employers of labour thereby boosting the economy of their families, the State and the nation at large.
The Post Primary Schools Service Commission Chairman represented by Member-in-charge of Nnewi zone, Dr Ernest Chukwuka, commended the school management and Parents Teachers Association for training the students on various skills.
Earlier in her speech, the Principal of the school, Mrs Eucharia Ikegwuonwu speaking on the theme of the event, “Nurturing and Celebrating Talent and Cultural Diversity”, said it is aimed at promoting opportunities for practical skills, talents and culture.
The event featured inspection of skill exhibition stands, cultural displays, cutting of cake among others.
