Anambra state government through the Ministry of Women and Social Welfare has partnered the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) in providing Psychosocial support equipment in four villages of Umueze Anam, Anambra West Local Government Area.
Handing over the items to the villagers, the Anambra state Commissioner for Women and Social Welfare, Honourable Ify Obinabo said that as a way to keep supporting those affected by the 2022 flood disaster, the State governmemt wrote to UNICEF for support to all those affected by the last year’s deluge and they obliged, hence the procurement of the sporting kits which will serve as a means of relaxation and socialization.
The Honourable Commissioner who spoke through the Director of Child’s department of the Ministry Mrs Ekene Anetona urged the beneficiaries to use the livelihood support intervention and ensure the safety of all the gaming facilities.
Four football goal posts, two volley ball courts, Ncho, whistle among others were part of the sporting kits given to the villagers as they also received seedlings including watermelon seedlings, Groundnut and potato seedlings among others.
The exercise is designed to cover the seven local government areas that usually experience flooding in the state.
