A team of Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees, NULGE, Anambra State Council led by the State President, Comrade Chikweli Adigwe has paid an official visit to Oyi council headquarters Nteje, for a spot check to ascertain the level of damages caused by thunderstorm which affected almost all the buildings in the area.
Comrade Adigwe, who went round the headquarters with his entourage, called for an urgent renovation of the affected buildings to avoid further damages by rainfall.
The NULGE state President who described the damages as a huge loss to the council, urged workers to continue to be dedicated to their duties despite the damages, adding that workers equally need good working environment and improved welfare packages for optimal performances and improved productivity.
Addressing the union leaders, the Head of Local Government Administration Oyi Local Government, Mrs. Edith Enuka, thanked the State President and his entourage for showing concern on workers welfare, stressing that workers welfare remains paramount in the agenda of the present administration.
Contributing, the Head of Works Department, of the local government, Engineer Peter Akwobi noted that the level of damages caused by the storm affected properties worth millions of naira and other vital official documents.
The affected buildings include the Oyi NULGE branch office, Pavilion, the Council’s E-liberary office, ASUBEB office, Anambra State Urban Development office, canteen, perimeter fence, Magistrate and Customary courts, Education Authority building and overhead tanks among others.
