The Anambra State Primary Healthcare Development Agency in collaboration with the State Ministry of Health and Partners has announced the commencement of Revaccination for measles in low performing wards, regular insulin intensification and African Vaccination Week.

Pharmacist Uchem who said that the vaccination exercise will commence today , Thursday June 8, and ends on Tuesday, June thirteenth, 2023 noted that measles is a highly contagious viral infection that poses a significant public health threat, particularly, in areas with low performing coverage.

She said that the revaccination exercise is to be conducted to ensure that all eligible children in the low performing wards receive the necessary protection against measles and would be done in all primary healthcare centres and designated vaccinations sites in the state.

Eligible persons for measles are from nine to fifty-nine months, regular insulin, nine to fifty-nine months, while covid-19 vaccine is eighteen years and above.

The Executive Secretary noted that during the exercise, trained healthcare workers will visit churches, schools, markets, Parks and mosques to vaccinate eligible children, and appealed to caregivers to make their wards available for vaccination.

According to Pharmacist Uchem, all vaccines are free, safe and effective, restating that government is determined to kick measles and other vaccine preventable diseases out of Anambra state.
