Anambra State Deputy Governor, Dr Onyekachukwu Ibezim, has restated the commitment of the Prof Chukwuma Soludo led administration towards providing adequate security of life and property for Ndi Anambra, as well as putting an end to flood menace in the state.
Dr Ibezim stated this at the Government House, Awka, during a meeting with partners of the state government in health and emergency related issues, and stakeholders in flood prone areas in the state.
Present at the meeting were officials of Achieving Health Nigeria Initiative, AHNI, United Nations Programme on HIV and AIDS, UNAIDS, UNICEF, among others.
Deputy Governor Ibezim, emphasized that the state government is making efforts towards providing permanent solution to the perennial flooding that rakes havoc in some part of the state, mostly during rainy season and called for all hands to be on deck in the fight against flooding and other environmental hazards, to make Anambra more conducive and habitable.
He noted that Governor Soludo is passionate about lifting people out of poverty and enhancing sustainable economy for Ndi Anambra, hence the numerous people-oriented policies and programmes of the government.
some of the delegates of the groups, including Consultant World Health Organization, Mr. Moses Ohamaeme, Senior Program Officer Achieving Health Nigeria Initiative, Mr. Henry Udenenwu, State representative United Nations Programme on HIV and AIDS, Lady Adaoha Anosike, among others, pledged to support and participate actively in the programme.
