The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, ICAN, Awka District Society has inaugurated a new executive to man its affairs
The fifteen-member Executive Committee headed by the 8th Chairman of the District Society, Mr. Emmanuel Modozie will be in office for a period of one year.
Speaking during the investiture in Awka, the outgoing chairman of the district, Mr. Kingsley Dim said that it has been a memorable year, as he contributed his best to the development of the District and thanked all the members for their support and believe in him to drive the agenda of the district.
He listed the various achievements of the District during his tenure and appealed for continuous support for the new exco in order to build on the foundation established even as he prayed for God’s blessings and good health upon them all.
The Chairman on the occasion, Prof. Emma Okoye expressed satisfaction with the crop of individuals in the new executive while charging them to uphold the virtues of integrity and commitment, adding that he is optimistic that if they prioritized these virtues, their tenure will be a reference point.
In his acceptance speech, Mr. Modozie rolled out his agenda to include the training and capacity development of members and marketing the ICAN brand and revealed that the society would ensure it encouraged young students to build a career in Accountancy for the economic growth of the country.
While accepting the responsibilities given to them, the new Chairman noted that the chapter under his watch would promote integrity and accountability among its members.
He assured that they will work in unity and for the progress of the District and the Institute in general.
For the Chairman, Investiture Planning Committee Mr. Francis Ezenwa, the new chairman is an accountant maker as he has tutored qualified accountants and expressed the hope that all members will give him their unflinching support to achieve his mandate.
