The Eighth Anambra state House of Assembly says it will be committed to improving security and welfare of the people through development-oriented bills and motions.
Speaker of the House, Right Honourable Somtochukwu Udeze gave the assurance in his acceptance speech after inauguration of the eight Assembly.
Sir Somtochukwu said the House under his watch will also serve as effective watchdog of the less privileged ones in Anambra State, assuring that the House will restrict itself to ensuring that development of appropriate legislative templates for addressing the multifarious problems of Ndi Anambra, especially youth unemployment, environmental degradation and road infrastructure.
Right Honourable Udeze applauded Governor Chukwuma Soludo for being a firm and determined leader whose policies and actions have shown his determination to radically transform Anambra State into a prosperous and liveable homeland, adding that the House will foster a relationship with the Executive and Judiciary based on cooperation and mutual respect for good governance.
On his part, the member representing Idemili North Constituency, Honourable Kingsley Udemezue noted that the inauguration of the eight Assembly is a new dawn for his Constituency and the state and expressed his readiness to work with the Executive Arm of government in the area of provision of adequate security for the people, which he said will pave way for more investments to come into the state and guarantee economic prosperity to the people.
The Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, Honourable Pauly Onyeka observed that the eight Assembly made the right choice in Right Honourable Udeze as he is knowledgeable enough in issues of legislature and governance and expressed confidence that he will use his wealth of experience to pilot the affairs of Anambra State
