The Dean of the Church of Nigeria Anglican Communion Most Reverend Ali Buba Lamido says the Diocese on the Niger is placed on the international map as a Diocese that has tremendously progressed to the height of opening up a university that is taking off with medical Science Courses which is critical in present day Nigeria.
Most Reverend Lamido in a sermon to mark the end of the four-day synod of Diocese on the Niger at Saint John’s Anglican church, Fegge, with the theme, “Feed My Lambs” said the word of God has prospered among the Anglican faithful of the Diocese.
The Dean of the Church of Nigeria noted that the theme of the synod is crucial, saying if Christians truly love Christ, they will be doers of His word.
The Archbishop of Owerri Ecclesiastical Province Most Reverend David Onuoha in his good will message congratulated Bishop Owen Nwokolo and the Anglican faithful of the Diocese for the University on the Niger saying that it is the first university to be owned by a Diocese in Nigeria.
The Bishop on the Niger, Right Reverend Nwokolo said the Diocese has been in the vanguard of education in Nigeria and will continue to set the pace that will satisfy the people.
The Archdeacon, Onitsha South Archdeaconry, Venerable Josiah Ofoegbu said he was elated that the synod ended on a very sound note.
Others who spoke including the local organizing committee Chairman, Evangelist Joshua Chukwujekwu, Director of Ecumenism of the Diocese, Venerable Joseph Nweke and that of Communications, Sir Osselloka Offoh, Chairman Publicity Sub-Committee Mr Nnamdi Ifediniru and a Knight of Saint Christopher, Sir Nduka Ochuba thanked God for the success of the synod.
Acknowledging God’s Faithfulness and blessing on them, Archdeaconries in the Diocese led by Bishop Nwokolo’s family and other families staged a special thanksgiving.
Re-dedication of the people, history of Christianity by Fegge Anglican Community, Choir rendition, blessing of Fegge Community by the Bishop, cutting of the synod cake, fundraising for the University project among others were the major highlights of the event.
