The Archbishop, Province of the Niger and Anglican Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Reverend Alexander Ibezim has encouraged couples to live up to the challenges of good parenting; in order to produce children who are morally and spiritually sound.

Most Reverend Ibezim, who stated this at Our Saviour’s Chapel, Emmaus House, Awka while administering the sacrament of baptism to diocesan priests’ children, said baptism is an important christian ceremony that signifies the imposition of the mark of Christ on believers.

He noted that when parents are not serious with the training of their wards, the children often derail.

He advised godparents to support biological parents in nurturing children with godly principles.

On his part, the Archdeacon, Awka Central Archdeaconry and Vicar, Anglican Church of The Pentecost, Awka, Venerable Ekenechukwu Nwafor, while speaking on the topic, “Raising godly children in a godless society”, said that God called each parent for a purpose they must always seek to fulfill.

Venerable Nwafor urged parents to pay more attention and scrutinize everything their children do, always present their children before God, raise a living family altar and be people of covenant.

In their separate speeches, two of the priests whose children were baptized, Reverend Chiemeka Chukwudum and Reverend Christian Nwafor promised that they will do all within their reach to give their children proper training backed with morals and fear of God; in order for them to be useful to all.

Administration of the sacrament of baptism and presentation of certificate by Most Reverend Ibezim climaxed the service.
