Oganiru Umunri is a socio-political and cultural organization of Umunri people. Its national headquarters is at Nri town, with the Unity Hall, Nri as its meeting place. Oganiru Umunri was founded on April 14, 2020, the day her first meeting was equally held at Enugwu-Ukwu by five passionate gentlemen.
They are: Ozocha Engineer Sam Osita Oraegbunam (Ozo Chiemezuo), Hon. Christian Ezenwaka (Akaekpuchionwa), Prince Chikodili Aniefuna (Ibobo-Chinyelu), Nze Cyril Okafor and Mr Okechukwu Bulana. Oganiru Umunri is duly registered in government and officially introduced to the authorities of most of the sub-entities of the Umunri Kingdom.
Oganiru Umunri’s sole agenda is to provide a formidable platform for the socio-cultural and socio-political integration of all sub-entities and appendages of the ancient Umunri Clan to achieve progressive unity and the collective celebration of the rich cultural heritage, history, brotherhood and the many divine endowments of Umunri people.
Membership of Oganiru Umunri is open to all Umunri people and all persons with genealogical linkage to Umunri clan. Upon fulfillment of the requirements and presentation before the Board of Trustees, the applicant is deemed to be fit for membership in character and pedigree.
Therefore, the Board of Trustees of Oganiru Umunri approved an annual programme: “Umunri Fiesta” to be undertaken by the organization with the objectives to galvanize Umunri people for a clan wide impact, celebrate and tell the Umunri story, and to recognize Umunri indigenes and friends.
The maiden fiesta was held on June 19, 2021 at Enugwu-Ukwu Civic Center. The second edition was held on June 25, 2022 at Nri Town Hall. This year’s edition being the third edition which will in turn mark the third anniversary of Oganiru Umunri will take place at Iruobieli Civic Centre, Enugwu-Agidi, Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State. The theme for this year’s celebration is “Njikọ Umunri Kingdom”.
Highlights of the event will include lectures, installation of patrons and presentation of pillars of peace awards, debate and quiz competitions, and cultural displays. Pastor Kingsley Onuorah (Odogwu Agidi) and Prince Onyeka Mgbajiaka (Ichie Neli) will receive pillars of peace awards.
The special guest of honour is Professor C. C. Soludo, CFR, the Executive Governor of Anambra State, while the guest speaker is Professor Emeka Nwankwo (Omeokachie Enugwu-Agidi na Umunri). The event will be chaired by Chief Murphy Anawana and will be Co-Chaired by Chief Emeka Egwuekwe (Apakata Onyi Enugwu Agidi)
The patrons and matrons of the association include Hon. Justice Anulika Agatha Okeke, Chief Dr Kelvin Obiegbunam; Chief Dr Uche Nworah; Sir Sunny Okoye; and Sir Martin Amaechi Ezendu.

Oganiru Umunri continues to grow in leaps and bounds as Umunri people, lovers of the vision and mission of the organization continue to subscribe for membership which currently stands at over 45. This is despite the very thorough and commitment-oriented fashion of subscription. These noble men and women have shown willingness to be partakers in the project of the historic unification of the ancient Umunri clan for an all-inclusive development and progress, keeping faith with the motto of Oganiru Umunri: “Heritage, Brotherhood and Clan Preservation.”
