As Muslims worldwide celebrate Eid al-Adha, a community leader calls for unity of purpose

 

Eid al-Adha, otherwise known as Eid-el-Kabir or the Feast of Sacrifice, is a highly symbolic Islamic tradition and celebration that commemorates the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim to sacrifice his son in obedience to Allah’s command.

Speaking on the significance of the day, the Emir of Bwari Area Council in the FCT, Awal Ijakoro, called on Nigerians to love one another so as to live in peace and do things together in unity.

The Emir who spoke to newsmen after the Eld -el Kabir prayer in Abuja, said that Nigerians need to adopt the ethics and values of giving to each other and urged the new administration to prioritise good governance.
