Anambra State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Afam Obidike, says that the state government is working tirelessly to keep on improving its health sector.
Dr. Obidike stated this during a meeting with Chief Medical Directors, Administrations and Heads of Nursing Services in all government owned hospitals across the state.
Addressing the assembly, Dr. Obidike, who said that they are working on the hub and scope approach, where referrals would be done from the primary healthcare center to secondary and finally to the tertiary healthcare center, thanked those, who are doing well in their various facilities, urging others to sit up.
He disclosed that Anambra State Government wants to build at least, one strong general hospital per local government area, adding that its Eye care Centre at Nise, Awka South Council Area, has all the world class facilities to function effectively.
Commissioner Obidike, unveiled state government’s plan to make primary healthcare sector more efficient to eliminate infant mortality, morbidity and neonatal mortality.
According him, Governor Chukwuma Soludo has signed clock-in device for healthcare workers, which means that one will be paid based on how many hours worked.
One of the participants, Mrs. Chika Aneke, from the Governor’s Lodge Clinic, described the meeting as apt and promised that they will continue to deliver quality services to the people at all times.
The Permanent Secretary, in the ministry, Mrs. Caroline Njaka, Anambra State Hospital Administrator, Dr. Innocent Umeakunne, Director, Medical Services in the ministry, Dr. Ugochukwu Chukwulobelu among others were present during the meeting.
