The Transition Committee Chairman, Anambra East Local Government Area, Dr. Anselm Onuorah, has commended the state government for the efforts being put in place to ensure that would-be flood victims in the state do not suffer untold hardship.
Dr. Onuorah, stated this while inspecting Father Joseph Memorial High School Aguleri, one of the Holding Centers, which is presently undergoing renovation by Governor Chukwuma Soludo led administration.
He expressed satisfaction with the level of work done so far noting that the efforts being put in place will help to lessen the hardship hitherto being experienced by flood victims in the area.
According to Dr. Onuorah, Anambra State Government, through the State Emergency Management Agency, SEMA, has been sensitizing Ndi Anambra East on what to know and do as well as the need to relocate to safer grounds on time, a move he said was geared towards making sure that this year’s flood will not have much impact on Ndi Anambra, especially flood prone council areas.
While urging the federal government to support the state , Dr. Onuorah maintained that as a local government, they will continue to do their part in supporting the state government to ensure that whatever that needs to be done is efficiently executed, and promised that other holding centers in the local government and across the state will receive governments attention as well.
