Every innovation is landmark and depicts excellence, irrespective of whatever form it may take. Nnamdi Azikiwe University is once more blazing the trail in academic excellence through the establishment of the Jubilee Academic Lecture Series- the first in Nigeria, Africa, and indeed the whole world!

The Jubilee Academic Lecture is reserved for academics who have been professors in their chosen area of specialization, for 25 years and above, and are still in service. Approval for the establishment of the Jubilee Academic Lecture series was given by the senate of the University at its 208th meeting held on 30th June, 2021 but implementation had been stalled by series of event that had affected the university calendar, including the Covid-19 Pandemic and the prolonged national industrial action by the staff unions of the universities. The Jubilee academic Lecture is expected to act as a ginger to young academics at the prime of their work in the academic institution, to expend time, energy, and resources on quality focused research in their chosen area of specialization, rise along the academic ladder and become professors at an age young enough to enable them garner and gain 25 years of active engagement in the university and larger local and international societal space. This would qualify them to make such presentation while still in service before their age of retirement from the university.

The maiden Jubilee Academic Lecture titled ‘Righting Women’s Sexual And Reproductive Health Wrongs: Stepping The Stairs Or Staring The Steps?’ comes up tomorrow Thursday 6th July, 2023, at the Auditorium of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, and is to be delivered by Prof. Joseph Ifeanyi Brian-D Adinma, FNAMED, a professor of reproductive health, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Faculty of Medicine, College of Health Sciences, Nnamdi Azikiwe University. Prof. Adinma is a renowned Obstetrician and Gynecologist who had served in various capacities both within and outside the university circle- as HOD Obstetrics/Gynecology, Sub-Dean and Dean of faculty of Medicine, Provost of the
