Anambra State Government has set up an eight-man committee of inquiry to thoroughly investigate the Mmesoma JAMB score matter.
The committee, which has Professor Nkemdili Nnonyelu, as its chairman, also has Professor Mercy Okonkwo, Professor Ngozi Chuma-Udeh, Professor Maduabuchi Dukor as members.
Other members are Professor Jaja Nwanegbo, Reverend Sister Professor Mary-Felicia Opara, Reverend Cannon Dr. Uchenna Umeifekwem and Mr. Chukwuemeka Fred Agbata, MD, Anambra Information Communication Technology Agency.
A release signed by the state Commissioner for Information, Sir Paul Nwosu, assured that the findings of this committee will be made public.
According to the release, Anambra State Government has, for obvious reasons, been following the JAMB/Mmesoma Ejike matter with keen interest and at this point wish to state that Miss Ejike, went to the office of the state Commissioner for Education, Professor Chuma-Udeh with her UTME result to protest that JAMB did not recognize her as the candidate with the highest score.
It was at this juncture that the Commissioner in turn called JAMB to confirm her claim but she was told that Mmesoma’s result was forged hence the invitation of the Directorate of State Services, DSS, authorities to investigate the matter and make its findings known.
The release noted with dismay that the investigation was yet to happen when JAMB went public with the matter, thus eliciting the raucous conversations seen in the media.
The release categorically stated that it is not the wish of Anambra State Government to join the slanging match or take sides at this stage but as a responsible government has decided to undertake an independent investigation into the matter.
