A one-time Director-General of the Standards Organization of Nigeria SON Dr Ikem Odumodu has charged well-to-do Nigerians to always remember to give back to the society that helped in making them.

 

Speaking on ABS Radio programme in Awka, Dr Odumodu regretted that many successful and wealthy individuals often forget the society that built them, charging such people to have a rethink.

 

Dr Odumodu who is a pioneer member of Association of Anambra State League of Professionals maintained that it behooves affluent individuals in the society to channel their resources towards assisting the less privileged through building of industries in order to create employment opportunities for the teeming populace, in addition to offering scholarships to indigent students in the society to enable them have quality education.

 

He equally called on those occupying leadership positions to emulate the Rotary style of leadership of service above self and in using the public fund for the service of God and humanity.

 

Dr Odumodu regretted that many people in positions of trust are working beyond expectations and charged those people to make accountability and honesty their watchword in order to build public trust and confidence.

 

Another guest on the programme, who is a teacher at the Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka, Mr Kalu Peters, who harped on the need for leaders to always lead with the fear of the Lord, stressed the need for those occupying leadership positions to always use such in touching lives.

 

He maintained that leadership is all about providing the people with basic amenities and securing a bright future for the youths.
