Anambra State Government has intervened at the gully erosion devastating a lane at Oba axis of Onitsha-Owerri Road.
The Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Engineer Ifeanyi Okoma who visited the site said that the State Government is moving immediately to arrest the situation and prevent further devastation.
According to Engineer Okoma, there is an urgent, critical and emergency situation as the road is about to be cut into two.
He said that the road belongs to the Federal Government, but if not checked would lead to loss of life and property of Ndi Anambra, adding that the Governor has directed immediate arrest of the situation.
Engineer Okoma said that the State Government has engaged Tamad Construction Company, to move in immediately and bring the situation under control.
On his part, the Director of Tamad Construction Company, Engineer Toni Mardi, assured that they are doing everything possible to contain the erosion in order to avert further landslides.
Lamenting the menace, a resident of Vision World Estate, Oba, Mr. Ikenna Ajulufo, recounted the untold hardship the erosion brought to them, adding that they are at risk of losing their lives and properties.
He said that they heaved a sigh of relief when they saw heavy duty construction equipment moving to the site and commended Governor Soludo for the quick response.
