The Chairman Post Primary Schools Service Commission, Professor Nkechi Ikediugwu says Igbo nation has cultural heritage that goes beyond dancing, merry making and dressing in rich cultural attire.

 

She stated this during a cultural carnival at Kenneth Dike Memorial Secondary School Awka and maintained that an average Igbo man in his true nature never steal, kill or tell lies.

Professor Ikediugwu called on teachers and parents to teach the children the core values of Igbo culture and admonished the students to always say the truth.

 

The member in charge of Awka Education Zone Dr. Uchenna Okeke praised the principal, staff and students of the school for organizing the cultural carnival and noted that Igbo culture is an epitome of goodness and should not be allowed to go into extinction.

She called on the students to make good conduct their watch word, imbibe true Igbo qualities in order to excel in life.

 

The Secretary of Post Primary Schools Service Commission Mrs Benedine Anagor expressed gratitude to the organizers of the event and appealed to the students to avoid bad groups and distant themselves from hard drugs.

Also speaking the Universal Basic Education Board Secretary, Mrs Ebele Mgbemena commended Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s efforts in promoting Igbo culture noting that Igbo food is the bedrock of their cultural heritage, urging Ndigbo to return to the nutrients rich natural foods.

 

The Principal of the school, Lady Ebele Orji in her address, mentioned some pressing needs of the school including borehole.

Highlights of the event include display of rich cultural attire by students, blessing of kolanuts and cultural dance among others.
