Anambra State Government has sent a save our soul message to the federal government to intervene at gully erosion site threatening life and property at Oba axis of the Onitsha-Owerri Expressway .

State government officials made the call while inspecting the level of havoc wrecked by the gully erosion.

The team comprised the state Commissioner for Works, Engineer Ifeanyi Okoma, his Environment counterpart, Engineer Felix Odimegwu, the Chief of Staff to Governor Chukwuma Soludo, Sir Ernest Ezeajughi, the Press Secretary to the governor, Mr. Christian Aburime, Transition Committee Chairman, Idemmili South Council Area, Mrs. Amaka Obi and members of Oba Traditional Council.

On his part, the Commissioner for Environment, Engineer Felix Odimegwu, regretted that Anambra State has the highest number of erosion sites in the country and called on the federal government to as a matter of urgency, fix the Oba landslide as the road remains the only route that leads to Imo, Abia and other states from the Niger Bridge, and also to save the lives of Nigerians.

For Sir Ernest, who said that erosion menace of such magnitude requires attention of the federal government, noted that the quick response by Anambra State Government, is a proof that it is alive to its responsibility of ensuring the safety of everyone.

In their separate speeches, Mrs. Obi, and the President General of Oba Town Union, Sir Osita Ubadi, thanked Anambra State Government for its quick intervention, even as they appealed to the federal government to come to their aid and save them from further hardship.
