Anambra Police Command operatives at Neni, Anaocha Local Government Area, have intercepted an armed robbery gang that snatched a Tricycle from the owner at Agu-Awka on Saturday night.

 

According to the state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ikenga Tochukwu, the gang was smashed following information received from Police in Awka, that the gang was fleeing towards Anaocha Council Area.

 

DSP Ikenga, said Police operatives, who were on patrol with the local vigilante service, laid an ambush and apprehended them.

 

He disclosed that one Baretta Pistol and one locally made Chief Revolver Pistol, twelve rounds of life ammunition, one expended ammunition and the stolen tricycle were recovered from the three-man gang.

 

According to DSP Ikenga, the arrested suspects are Ebuka Madu, twenty-two years from Umunze, Chinedu Godwin, twenty-three from Enugu State, and Udegbunam Chikezie, eighteen from Neni.

 

He said the Commissioner of police, CP Aderemi Adeoye, has assured that the confidence reposed in the command shall not be taken for granted and directed that the suspects be arraigned in court after a diligent investigation.

 

In another development, men of Anambra State Police Command, attached to Abagana Division, have arrested a fifty-year-old woman, Ukamaka Udeugbo, for assaulting and maltreating her elderly mother at Umudunu Village, Abagana.

 

According to a release from the State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ikenga Tochukwu, the suspect in a viral video, flogged the naked aged mother repeatedly and threw buckets of water on her while lying on the floor.

 

He said that CP Adeoye, has directed the transfer of the case to State CID and that the aged woman be handed to Anambra State Commissioner for Women Affairs, for adequate care by the state government, while the suspect is to be arraigned in court after investigation.
