The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Awka Capital Territory Development Authority, ACTDA, Mr. Ossy Onuko has re-echoed warning against street trading in all parts of the capital territory.
Mr. Onuko gave the warning when he led his team to an inspection visit to Eke Awka, Awka South Local Government Area.
Speaking during the visit, Mr. Onuko regretted that despite sensitizations and warnings the agency had earlier given to the traders in the market against trading along the road, some of them still flout the order.
He noted that government had spent huge resources in fixing the barricade at the market to ensure that the traders comply with the directive given to them, but some of them are now by- passing the barricade and display their wares along the road.
Mr. Onuko who expressed displeasure over the time commuters who ply the Ziks Avenue Road, Eke Awka axis waste as a result of the trader’s inability to obey the order given to them, promised that the agency will continue to enforce the law till they begin to comply.
The ACTDA Managing Director warned other traders across the territory to desist from displaying their goods along the road, as it could lead to fatality once there is a road crash.
He further assured that the agency will continue to discharge its duties without fear or favour and according to the law establishing it.
