It was a moment of tribute at Enugu-Ukwu Community, Njikoka Council Area, over the weekend as people from all walks of life including the management, staff and students of Anambra State College of Health Technology Obosi, paid their last respect to the late Madam Martha Echezona.

 

The late Madam Echezona, who had been buried according to her wish, died at the age of one hundred and seven and was until her death, a devoted Christian and mother of Pharmacist Gilbert Echezona, Head of Department of Pharmaceutical Department, Anambra State College of Health Technology Obosi.

 

The funeral was a celebration of life and times of the late Matriarch.

Delivering a homily during a funeral mass at her compound, a visiting Priest, Reverend Father lfeanyi Ani, who called on Christians to always be prepared for no one knows when death will come, described the deceased as a godly woman, who loved and trained her children in godly ways and charged them to develop on the legacies she left behind.

 

Also speaking, her first son, Pharmacist Echezona, described his late mother as a formator, character molder, lover and disciplinarian, who loved her children, lived a prayerful and peaceful life and promised to uphold her legacies.

He thanked those, who honored them and prayed God to bless them and grant his mother peaceful reposed.

 

In their separate comments, her daughter in-law, Mrs. Patricia Echezona and two of her grandsons, Mr. Gilbert Uche and Mr. Alexander Echezona, described their late grandmother as a truthful and wise woman, whom they will forever miss her motherly advise, and jokes.

Two of her uncles, Dr. Pius Okafor and Nze Alexander Anaeme, said the late matriarch was a lovely wife, who cared for her family after the demise of her husband and urged her immediate family to bear the loss with fortitude.

 

On their parts, the Provost of Anambra State College of Health Technology, Mr. Daniel Ezeobi, the Registrar, Mr. Okechukwu Nwobi, Chairman School Welfare Officer, Comrade Casmir Okolo said they came to commiserate with one of their own, Pharmacist Echezona, over the demise of his mother asking him to bear it with fortitude.

Pharmaceutical Association of Nigeria, Anambra State Chapter, led by Pharmacist Vincent Okolo, was not left out as they also condoled with the family

 

In-laws, friends and relations took turns to eulogize the late Madam Echezona while thanksgiving, special prayer session for the family and condolence visits climaxed the funeral ceremony.
