Members of staff of Anambra Broadcasting Service, ABS, have started receiving their own share of palm seedlings being distributed to Ndi Anambra by Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s administration .
The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the ABS Sir Chido Obidiegwu performed symbolic presentation of the seedlings at the station’s Corporate Headquarter, at Arroma junction, Awka.
The event and reports that members of staff of ABS were in high spirits as they received their palm seedlings individually.
Speaking while presenting the palm seedlings, Sir Chido said they had shared coconut seedlings earlier and are now distributing the palm seedlings.
While describing the distribution of the seedlings as an initiative that would provide Ndi Anambra with income generation stability, Sir Chido likened the move to what former Governor Michael Okpala of the Eastern Region did to revolutionize agriculture and commended the Governor for the move.
Sir Chido charged members of the staff to ensure they plant, monitor and nurture the seedlings as they would soon start reaping the benefits.
While expressing profound gratitude to Governor Soludo, the Director News and Current Affairs Department of the ABS Mr Gab Okpalaeze who is the most senior staff of the establishment, said that crude oil is just an aspect of oil known to many, saying that palm oil is a branch of oil exploration that is yet to be tapped.
Mr Okpalaeze thanked the Governor for remembering the importance of civil servants to every administration, noting that in future, staff of ABS will show the entire state that they are very much in support of the Governor’s clean and green Anambra as they would nurture the seedlings to maturity.
In their separate speeches, the Director of Commercial Services, Mrs Beatrice Akwanamnye and her Administration counterpart, Lady Tina Ekenta, explained that the Governor identified the importance of agriculture to the growth of the economy, which was why he introduced the move, thanking him for the gesture.
Many staff members took turns to u their own share of the seedling.
