Anambra State Governor’s Wife, Nonye Soludo, has urged teachers of her Healthy Living School Club, to ensure that every student member of the club, understands the significance of living a healthy lifestyle and sticking permanently to it.

The governor’s wife stated this while interacting with the teachers at the Governor’s Lodge, Amawbia.

The teachers, addressed as “Teacher Ambassadors” and selected from public, private and mission secondary schools across the six education zones of Anambra State, are heads of the club in schools, whose duties are to direct and monitor affairs of club members.

The interaction with the teachers was aimed at educating them on the philosophy of the club and what they are expected to teach the students as part of the club’s activities in schools.

Addressing them, Mrs. Soludo reminded them of the brand that they are representing, what is expected from them, and also commended the teachers for showing commitment to the whole project through their volunteerism.

She urged them to ensure that every school child under their care in the clubs, understands what it means to live right, in what they eat and how they take care of their body, including prioritizing physical exercise, taking care of their environments and staying away from drugs.

The Governor’s wife, while explaining that healthy living has always been her passion, noted that catching the kids young would help them understand the core message of the campaign and make it a guiding principle in life.

In his remark, the Commissioner for Health, Dr Afam Obidike, noted that becoming a member of the organization comes with great privilege that must be protected at all times, both in character and example.

The Team Leader of Healthy Living with Nonye Soludo Initiative, Mr. Chigbo Nweke, while reminding them of their responsibilities, lauded them for volunteering for the right cause.

The National Youth Leader, Anambra State Association of Town Unions, ASATU, Mr. Ken Okoli, the Reproductive Health Coordinator, Anambra State, Dr Uju Okoye, among others, were at the event.

With the Governor’s wife having officially inaugurated the club few weeks ago, the teachers have already kicked off activities in each of their schools, with fifty students taken as members from each school in the current phase.
