The recent distribution of coconut and palm seedlings for plantation and massive construction of roads across the state have continued to attract commendations from residents of the state.
Such commendation came from the traditional ruler of Umueri, Igwe Benneth Emeka who stated that the distribution of the coconut and palm seedlings to ministries, parastatals, agencies, civil servants and communities will boost both government, communities and individual’s economy.
Igwe Emeka who affirmed that his community got their own share noted that the seedlings when nurtured to maturity will put food on the table of many families as the coconut has four years and palm has two years to start bearing fruits, adding that the plantation will also help in erosion control and in safeguarding the environment.
The Umueri monarch who stated that agriculture is the major thing that sustains any community, state or nation commended governor Soludo for boosting agriculture and other sectors of the state economy.
On road infrastructure, Igwe Emeka thanked Governor Soludo for embarking on massive road construction in different parts of the state which he said connects communities, especially agrarian areas for easy evacuation and transportation of farm produce to markets in urban areas, citing the Ebenebe-Ugbenu-Ugbene-Awba-Ofemili-road, Ifite Ogwari road that leads to irrigation areas and Igbo Ukwu-Awkaetiti-Ichida-Nnobi Road among others.
He commended the Governor for awarding the contracts to indigenous contractors and also thanked governor Soludo for the renovation work he is doing at Umueri General hospital which has been abandoned for many years
Igwe Emeka called on the Governor to look inward at the Anambra state International Cargo and Passengers Airport Umueri to fix the needed infrastructures as well as construct access road that leads to the airport from Umueri axis in case of emergency as there is only one road that leads to the airport from Nteje axis that is motorable.
