Anambra State House of Assembly Committee on Public Account has commenced verification and review of the 2022 audited account of Anambra State.

 

The exercise, which is holding at House of Assembly Complex Awka, will see all ministries appear before the committee for the exercise.

 

Speaking during their meeting with the office of the Accountant General, the Chairman of the Committee, Honourable Noble Igwe explained that the meeting serves as a platform for them to look into the account of different ministries in Anambra State to ascertain if they utilized public funds appropriated to them during the year under review.

 

Honourable Igwe charged Ministries, Departments and Agencies coming for the meeting to submit their files to the Committee on time to enable them do a thorough job, warning that any ministry that fails to do so will not be given attention and will be included in the report the Committee will present to Anambra State House of Assembly for disciplinary actions.

 

However, the Committee observed that there is transparency, accountability and probity in the office of the Accountant General, Ministry of Finance and Anambra State Bureau of Statistics that appeared before it.

 

In his remarks, the Accountant General of Anambra State, Dr. Chukwudi Okoli commanded the competence of the committee.

 

On his part, the Statistician General of Anambra State and Managing Director of Anambra State Beareau of Statistics, Mr. Obiora Obiabummuo expressed the commitment of the agency to gather data that will enable the Committee to discharge its duties creditably, even as he revealed that his office is working towards digitization of data collection system for the benefit of the state
