Anambra state government has restated commitment towards the welfare of Corps members serving in the state.

 

Anambra state Governor Professor Chukwuma Soludo stated this at the swearing-in and opening ceremony of the 2023 Batch B Stream 2 corps members orientation programme at the Nnamdi Azikiwe NYSC Unity Permanent Orientation camp Umuawulu-Mbaukwu, Awka South Local Government Area.

Governor Soludo represented by the state Commissioner for Youth Development Mr. Patrick Aghamba told them that the swearing in ceremony marks the beginning of a new phase in their lives – a phase of service, dedication, sacrifice, and nation-building, urging them to remember the core values of the NYSC including but not limited to discipline, selflessness, patriotism and hard work as he said that these values will guide them on the path towards making a positive impact in their host communities, Anambra State and in Nigeria.

 

In an address, the Commissioner for Youth Development Mr. Aghamba who is the Chairman NYSC State Governing Board, represented by the President ASATU Youth Wing, Comrade Ken Okoli, reminded the corps members that service to humanity is at the core of the NYSC programme as it is through their selfless contributions that they can make meaningful impact in the lives of others noting that their primary assignments will provide them with opportunities to address the needs of their host communities.

Mr. Aghamba urged them to identify those needs, engage with the people and work collaboratively to implement sustainable solutions and create a lasting legacy and inspire positive change.

 

On her part, the Coordinator of NYSC in Anambra state, Mrs. Blessing Iruma who reminded the corps members that the orientation programme serves as a crucial period of transition and preparation for their service year during which they will undergo various trainings, acquire essential skills and cultivate the right mindset for their service to their father land, urged them to approach the orientation programme with utmost seriousness, enthusiasm and willingness to learn.

Mrs. Iruma expressed appreciation to the Government of Anambra state and Governor Chukwuma Soludo for their continued support to NYSC Scheme and for the consistent provision of necessary resources and facilities noting that their commitment to the welfare and wellbeing of Corps Members is exemplary.

 

She expressed appreciation to the host communities of Umuawulu-Mbaukwu as well as the Awka South Local Government administration for their warm reception and hospitality.

Seven hundred and fifty-five males and eight hundred and ninety-three females were sworn in at the ceremony which featured parade and other displays.
