The member representing Anambra East Constituency in the State House of Assembly, Hon. Obi Nweke has called on the Federal Government to find a permanent solution to the increasing flooding that is causing havoc across the country every year.

Hon. Nweke who gave this charge while speaking to newsmen said that the amount of damage the perennial deluge has caused his constituents for a couple of years now cannot be quantified and asked the federal government to come up with a practicable framework to end the ugly menace.

The Lawmaker whose constituency is being affected by the flood every year pointed out that if nothing urgent and tangible is done to salvage the situation, the State and Nigeria at large may be plunged into a food crisis soon, as farmers do lose all their crops to the flood.

Hon. Nweke commended Governor Chukwuma Soludo for all his government’s efforts through the Anambra State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) to ensure that Ndi Anambra do not suffer unnecessary hardship during the flood through sensitization and the provision of Holding Centres.

He called on the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to collaborate with the Anambra state government in order to ensure that all the necessary things that would be needed by the people who might be affected by the flood are adequately put in place.

Hon. Nweke who assured that he will bring participatory and all-inclusive representation to his people, praised Governor Soludo for the numerous palliative measures his administration has rolled out to cushion the economic hardship caused by the removal of fuel subsidy on Ndi Anambra, saying that it is a step in the right direction.

According to the lawmaker, Anambra State House of Assembly will continue to synergize with the Executive Arm of government in making laws that will entrench a liveable and prosperous homeland that would be beneficial to Ndi Anambra both at home and in the diaspora.
