Ezumeri Progressive Union in association with Ezumeri Youth Wing Oraifite in Ekwusigo Council Area has organized the first edition of the Youth Agenda, with the topic “Provoking Great Exploits in the Land” for youths in the community at the Umuafa hall Ezumeri, Oraifite.

The President General of Ezumeri Progressive Union, Mr. Obiora Offoh said the programme was aimed at empowering their youths, help them to harness their talents and assist the vulnerable ones to achieve their targets in life.

 

Mr Offoh stressed that the programme also geared towards moral rearmament for the youths who are increasingly indulging in vices and advised those who participated in the programme to take the message of the good things they garnered to other youths absent as they will soon embark on the second edition.

The Chairman of Ezumeri Youth Wing, Mr Jamaica Ufondu who noted the role of youths in nation building, said the programme educated the younger ones on how to stay out of trouble and disclosed that they have young philanthropists who will assist in the empowerment.

A stakeholder in the community who is a retired Managing Director of ABS, Sir Osselloka Offoh advised the youths to participate in skill acquisition programmes to transform their lives, urged them to reintegrate themselves in the community affairs, and be disciplined too.

Resources persons from Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka including Engineer Kelvin Eberechi and Professor Chidi Udeh, told the youths that their destinies lie in their hands, and encouraged them to shun ill-gotten wealth and imbibe the spirit of perseverance while Evangelist Collins Ikeh whose topic was “Who Shall Abide in the Tabernacle” said the programme will be a turning point for many youths in Ezumeri.

 

Some of the youths who spoke to the ABS, among whom were Mrs Ngozi Okafor, Ifeanyi Okeke, Chinenye Onukwuli and Tochi Muonagor said it is the first time the youths were given a platform to express themselves and thanked their leaders for initiating the programme.
