The Archbishop, Metropolitan and Primate of All Nigeria Most Reverend Henry Ndukuba has dedicated the Christ Church, Vicarage and a hall initiated and built by the family of Sir and Lady Emeka Okwuosa at Irefi-Oraifite in Ekwusigo Local Government Area.
Archbishops and bishops, including Archbishop Province of the Niger, Most Reverend Alexander Ibezim, Archbishop Emmanuel Chukwuma of Enugu Province Bishop Ndubuisi Obi of Nnewi Diocese among others participated in the service.
Most Reverend Ndukuba in a sermon, said when men built for God, it is an act of thanksgiving and a huge sacrifice adding that the house of God is a place where men and women worship and seek the face of God and appreciated the family of Sir Emeka Okwuosa for building an edifice for God.
The Speaker Anambra State House of Assembly Right Honourable Somtoochukwu Udeze noted that Sir Emeka Okwuosa has been supporting Oraifite people and the larger society encouraged private individuals to participate in governance while the member representing Ekwusigo constituency in the Anambra State House of Assembly Mr Ikenna Ofodeme said the legislature will pass a motion to encourage the good deeds of Sir Emeka Okwuosa and prayed God to replenish him.
The benefactor, Sir Emeka Okwuosa who went down memory lane on how the idea of building the church started, said the turning of the sod was performed by the pioneer Bishop of Nnewi Diocese and former Archbishop of Niger Province Most Reverend Godwin Okpala on thirty-first December,2018 and thanked the Umuokpala Eshi kindred for donating the land.
Sir Emeka who spoke on “The Role of The Church in The Contemporary Nigeria” decried the state of things in South-East especially the quest for materialism stressing that hard work and trusting God are the key to wealth acquisition.
The Okwuosa family also used the opportunity to organize a memorial service for their late parents, Sir Egbuniwe and Lady Irene Okwuosa.
The eldest son, Dr Chino Okwuosa during the event expressed satisfaction with the investment of his family in the larger society.
Reading of deed for dedication, thanksgiving, cutting of remembrance cake featured during the service which attracted personalities from all walks of life including a former Governor of Anambra State, Dame Virgy Etiaba.
