Anambra state government says it cannot continue to fold its arms and allow Ndi Anambra to suffer as a result of poor condition of federal roads in the state.

The Commissioner for Works, Engineer Ifeanyi Okoma stated this while explaining the reason behind the interventions ongoing on many federal roads in the state.

According to Engineer Okoma, government of Anambra state has written severally and alerted federal government on the condition of federal roads in the state but has not received or seen any reaction, and instead of exposing Anambra Road users to danger, decided to carry out palliatives on the roads.

Engineer Okoma said that entrance into the state from Enugu state has been in a very bad state, until the Governor Chukwuma Soludo mandated his ministry to fix it, expressing satisfaction that the Gariki axis of Amansea through Amansea-Awka old road, Agu Awka junction by Eze-Uzu as well as Amawbia under Flyover are now very motorable.

He announced that the Minister of Works will come to Anambra state to see for himself the state of Oba and Ozubulu axis of Onitsha-Owerri Road where Anambra state government is already intervening but cannot fund full reconstruction of the road because of the funds involved.
