The Transition Committee Chairman of Orumba South Local Government Area, Prince Neville Uchendu has said that the people of the area will always remain grateful to the wife of the Anambra State Governor, Nonye Soludo; for choosing Orumba South as a model scheme to kick-start her Community Youth Engagement Initiative, describing it as an honor.

 

Speaking at the Orumba South Local Government Secretariat, Umunze during the official flag-off and inauguration of the Healthy Living with Nonye Soludo Community Youth Engagement Programme for the youth of Orumba South, Prince Uchendu commended Mrs. Soludo for contributing to the wellbeing of the youth in the state in general, and Orumba South in particular.

The Orumba South council boss, who described Mrs. Soludo’s Healthy Living Youth Programme as first of its kind in Nigeria, urged the youth of the area to avail themselves of the lofty programme in order to maintain a healthy living.

Prince Uchendu, on behalf of the Orumba South stakeholders, assured the wife of the Governor that the entire people of the area would continue to give maximum support to the present administration of Governor Chukwuma Soludo, as well as her projects.

 

Also speaking, the state Commissioner for Health, Dr. Afam Obidike noted that Orumba South ranks first in youth development in the state, which he said necessitated its selection as the kick-off point for Mrs. Soludo’s Healthy Living Initiative.

He commended the Transition Committee Chairman, Prince Uchendu for providing an enabling environment for the success of the programme, adding that the Chairman has performed creditably well in advancing Governor Soludo’s development agenda, promising that government would continue to partner with him.

 

In their separate speeches, the President General of Anambra State Association of Town Unions, Youth Wing, Comrade Ken Okoli, Mr. Nnaemeka Nweke, Juliet Onyejekwe, Ifeadikachi Nnadi, Onyebuchi Madu, among others, expressed gratitude to the wife of the Governor for providing a better life for the youth through her programme, and promised to put into good use what they have learnt from the programme.

The wife of the Governor had earlier during the programme advised the youth of Orumba South to give priority to their health, and assured that she would use the programme to touch the lives of youths of the area positively.
