Men of the Anambra State Police Command has rescued a kidnap victim and shot of the suspects.

 

A statement by the Anambra State Police Public Relations Officer Tochukwu Ikenga said the victim, one Abuchi (Surname withheld) is from Orumba South Local Government Area of the state.

 

The statement explained that Police operatives; while on patrol in Obosi at about half past seven o’clock in the evening of Saturday, ninth September, were stopped by residents and informed about a kidnap incident and directed the Police in the direction the kidnappers went after seizing their victim and the Police operatives trailed the kidnappers to an uncompleted building surrounded by bush in Umuota Village, Obosi, where exchange of gunfire with the kidnappers ensued and one of the hoodlums was shot and arrested while others escaped, some with bullet wounds.

 

It added that one double barrel pistol, two live and one expended cartridge were recovered from the gang.

 

The arrested suspect according to the statement gave his name as Ikenna Nwasu from Obosi, and identified those that escaped as Ebuka; a.k.a Big, Emmanuel Chinedu and Chukwu Ojoto.

 

It disclosed that the hoodlum, who identified Ebuka as the leader of the gang, later gave up the ghost on the way to hospital for treatment.

 

Anambra State Commissioner of Police, Aderemi Adeoye, who commended the team for its gallantry, directed that the suspects at large be declared wanted and hunted down.

 

He assured the people of Obosi, Anambra citizens and residents that the command will not relent in its onslaught against crime until it is brought to the barest minimum.
