With the success story of the recent Anambra Investment Summit in Awka, there is no doubt that every Onye Anambra can now beat his or her chest and say, “Yes, a square peg is in a square hole” in the governance of Anambra state, the Light of the Nation. With that singular economic permutation aimed at rejigging, rejuvenating and revamping the economy of Anambra state and its people, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, has indeed shown that he is a leader who knows the way, goes the way and shows the way.
Succinctly put, the investment summit is an eye-opener for the business community in Nigeria and beyond. It opened the eyes of the people to realize that investment is a journey of self-discovery. It revealed our relationship with money, our tolerance for risk and our ability to stay disciplined in the face of uncertainty. The investment summit asked the question, “How many millionaires do we know who have become wealthy by investing in savings account?”
The Anambra Investment Summit was a perfect chance for investors and entrepreneurs within Anambra and outside to gather, leverage insights and take advantage of limitless investment opportunities in the state.
Happily, the summit attracted all those who sought to propel their businesses to new heights and unlock the infinite potential in Anambra State.
What sets the Anambra Investment Summit apart was the impressive lineup of seasoned entrepreneurs and industry leaders who graced the event as panelists. The discussants brought to the table a wealth of experience, knowledge, and insights that would help transform the way we approach business and corporate governance in Nigeria.
The summit was an opportunity to discover investment opportunities, gain a competitive edge, forge meaningful connections, and learn from the best in the industry. Attendees gained insights into the latest trends, strategies, and best
practices in corporate governance as the panelists shared their success stories and lessons learnt. In a summit of that nature, participants also connected with like-minded
entrepreneurs, investors, and industry experts, thereby leveraging networking and potential partnerships that could drive their businesses forward.
Admittedly, with the pro-investment government of Governor Soludo, whose reforms have made Anambra the seventh on scale of Ease of Doing Business among 36 states in Nigeria and first in Southeast, the summit was a reinforcement of the government’s commitment to fostering a conducive business environment for investors, which have started yielding results.
No doubt, in a state like Anambra that celebrates innovation and creativity, the summit challenged participants to think outside the box and implement positive changes in their businesses. In all, corporate governance is not just a buzzword; it is a fundamental aspect of building sustainable businesses that can withstand challenges and thrive.
Another area that forms attraction for foreign and local investors in Anambra State is that the state is the hub, politically, where every part of the country has a meeting point. However, Governor Soludo’s area of priority in turning Anambra from “a departure lounge to a destination lounge” include infrastructure, agriculture, power, urban regeneration and rail feasibility.
Understandably, Anambra state government has acquired 106 hectares of land at Ukpo-Ukwulu area for its export emporium and is to acquire another 700 hectares for complete industrial hub. Already, Governor Soludo has not only promised to name prominent institutions after Ndi Anambra who invest at home and give employment to citizens, but has also promised to break the jinx of rural and urban pipe borne water supply.
There is no doubt that Soludo is laying a building block for a prosperous Anambra State: a building block for a smart city, a pivotal juncture to our journey to building a mega city. Therefore, Ndi Anambra, wherever they are, should heed the Akuluono call by Governor Chukwuma Soludo and bring part of their investments home for enhanced development of the State.
