The Special Assistant to Governor Chukwuma Soludo on Security, Mr. Solomon Onwuemene says Governor Soludo is very passionate about the health needs of Ndi Anambra.
He made this known during a free medical outreach organized by the National Association of Nigerian Nurses and Midwives at Awba Ofemmili, Awka North Local Government Area.
The team delivered health education to Ndi Awba Ofemili before the commencement of the exercise.
The team equally conducted diagnosis on cervical cancer, high blood pressure and others.
Speaking during the exercise Mr. Onwuemene, who said that he was elated over the medical outreach given to his people thanked the association for a job well done.
He noted that many people are living with one form of illness or another but could not visit the hospital because of lack of fund, noting that the exercise has given them the opportunity to receive quality healthcare , even as he commended the governor for the ongoing construction of Amansea Ebenebe Ugbenu Awba Ofemili road.
The Anambra state chairman of the National Association of Nigerian Nurses and Midwives, Mrs. Edith Onwuka said that the free medical outreach is part of their activities to celebrate International Nurses Week, which is to offer free medical services to the people
Mrs. Onwuka revealed that they came with optometric and nurses among other health experts that will consult in different areas including free cervical cancer screening and asked Ndi Awba Ofemili to always visit their health centres and stop buying drugs from quacks, adding that they will also give out skill birth attendant kits and free eye glasses among numerous other things.
The traditional ruler of the community, Igwe Ezekwesili Mmaduagwuna, thanked the team for the exercise and appealed to government to deploy a visiting doctor to the area, while a beneficiary, Mr. Rowland Mmaduabuchi, prayed God to bless their benefactor.
