In his bid to actualize the vision of an all-inclusive education for the state, Governor Chukwuma Soludo has announced a free and compulsory education in Anambra public schools.
Making the announcement at Premier Primary School Obosi, Governor Soludo said that education from the Early Childhood Care and Development Education, ECCDE, to Junior Secondary Schools, JSS, is free and compulsory for school-age children in the state.
He stated that henceforth no child within education range would be charged school fees or any other fees to acquire education in the state.
The Governor maintained that children of school age would no longer be deprived of access to quality education, adding that core community schools would be upgraded to smart schools in line with his vision of imparting skillful and sustainable education.
He stated that machinery would be put in place to ensure that the free and compulsory education is effectively stepped down in the state, adding that his administration would not look kindly on anyone who fails to comply with the pronouncement.
At the Governor’s visit, cash prizes were given to all the top three students in the last term examination in the school.
