Anambra State House of Assembly Committee on Health has urged residents of Anambra State to take advantage of the modern equipment available at Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital, Amaku, Awka to meet their different health needs.

 

The Committee made the call at their familiarization visit to the hospital.

In his remarks, the Chairman of the committee, Honourable Tony Muobuike explained that they visited the hospital to ascertain their challenges and work out ways to proffer legislative solutions.

 

Honourable Muobuike lauded the reforms introduced at the Teaching Hospital by the Chief Medical Director, Dr. Joe Aķabuike within a short period in office, even as he revealed that the Legislature in Anambra State is working in synergy with the Executive to achieve the vision of Governor Chukwuma Soludo in the health sector.

On his part, the Chief Medical Director of the hospital, Dr. Akabuike disclosed that he built and equipped dialysis unit and trained renal nurses on the use of dialysis machine, constructed and equipped consultants’ Lounge, which he described as the first of its kind in the South East as a means of ensuring that consultants are always within the hospital promises.

 

Dr. Akabuike also informed the Committee that he completed and commissioned Mother and Child Referral Centre among others.

He applauded Governor Soludo for placing high premium on health by investing heavily in it and assured that he will work with the House Committee on Health for the realization of the Governor’s vision in the health sector.

 

A member of the Committee, Honourable Patrick Udeoba also commended the performance of Dr. Akabuike at the hospital.
