As part of efforts to improve public sector education across the state, the Anambra State Government says it will soon commence the process of recruiting additional three thousand teachers in the state public schools.
Governor Chukwuma Soludo dropped the hint when he paid a visit to Community Secondary School, Isuofia in Aguata Local Government Area of the state.
The Governor explained that the move was to eliminate the dispensation of “PTA” teachers and grant accessible, qualitative education to Anambra children.
According to Governor Soludo, his administration is intentional about projecting public sector education as a model and pacesetters for other categories of school, assuring that his administration will provide accessible and quality education as the foundation for the much-desired sustainable future.
Professor Soludo lamented that though tuition-free education exists across the state, students are usually made to pay dozens of other fees and levy, pointing out that the quality of education can be best measured by quality of teachers and teaching.
He maintained that his administration is determined to demonstrate the full meaning of free education; specifically targeted at children of the poor and vulnerable in the society, because every Anambra child deserves to the taught by the best teacher to get qualitative education.
On her part, the Principal of Community Secondary School, Isuofia, Mrs Chidinma Egboh, who was appreciative of the Governor’s love for education, eulogized his strides in the sector since he assumed office.
She however called the attention of the Governor to some of their challenges, pleading for assistance.
The Chief of Staff to the Governor, Mr Ernest Ezeajughi, Commissioner for Education, Professor Ngozi Chuma-Udeh, Chairman of Post Primary School Service Commission, PPSSC, Professor Nkechi Ikediugwu, Chairman Anambra State Universal Basic Education Board, ASUBEB, Mrs. Vera Nwadinobi, Transition Committee Chairman of Aguata Local Government Area, Prince Chibueze Oforbuike, among others accompanied the Governor on the visit.
