Governor Chukwuma Soludo has assured of reconstructing and rejuvenating Upper Iweka to become a center of admiration.
Governor Soludo gave the assurance when he visited the location.
The Governor announced that those who do not have business in Upper Iweka should leave because government want to clean up the place, also said that going forward, Motor Parks that do not respect the rules, will be shut down.
According to the Governor, part of the rules is that Motor Parks in Upper Iweka must be gated with all vehicles loading within their respective premises, so that the pedestrian way can be brought back.
He pointed out that street lights, security cameras and other facilities will be mounted at the location, asking those who are trading on the roads to vacate to Ọdụ Ụgbọ and another location at Ogbaru.
The Governor promised that the ongoing road construction from Moore Street through Ochanja, to Upper Iweka down to Owerri road will be completed with road markings and revealed that his administration is setting up a special task force to deal with touting and pickpocketing.
Among the Governor’s entourage were Chief of Staff, Mr. Ernest Ezeajughi, Commissioner for Works, Engr. Ifeanyi Okoma among others.
