Radio, Television, Theatre and Arts, Workers Union of Nigeria, RATTAWU has held its South-East Conference and Man of the Year Award, with emphasis on projecting African culture and values.

 

It was a gathering of notable personalities in the media and creative industry within the South East and beyond for the conference and award night.

 

The theme of the conference: is “The Role of Media and Culture in National Developmentā€.

In his address, the National President of RATTAWU, Dr. Kabir Garba Tsanni who commended the members for their efforts in being united and firm, emphasized that the conference would help the union brainstorm on key issues facing the country and how to make inputs.

 

The South-East Vice President of the Union, Prince Emeka Kalu in his remarks noted that the union has remained strong over the years and has its members occupying key positions in labour union and government in both state and national level.

Prince Kalu explained that the Man of The Year award conferred on Chief Kenneth Ifekudu was most deserving, given his exploits as the award is meant for those who have contributed immensely to the advancement of the society.

 

The Chairman, Nigerian Union of Journalists, Anambra State Council, Dr. Emeka Odogwu said the theme of the conference is apt, as the media help in highlighting the culture of the people for international acceptance, pointing out that the positive aspect of culture should be sustained.

 

Mrs. Maureen-Sone Enujioke, Chairman, RATTAWU, Anambra State, I her speech said the media have a crucial role to play in sensitizing the people on the cultural norms and values.

The event featured the decorations of Chief Kenneth Ifekudu as RATTAWU Man of the Year for the next decade.

 

The Managing Director of Anambra Broadcasting Service, ABS, Sir Chido Obidigwu and the Director of News and Current Affairs, Mr. Gab Okpalaeze among others attended the event.
